Abstract

Electric vehicles (EVs) use rechargeable batteries as their main energy source. During charging and operation, battery cells generate heat. Excessive temperature can reduce battery performance, accelerate degradation and create safety concerns. This paper proposes an AI-based battery cooling system in which temperature sensors continuously monitor the battery condition and provide data to an AI/ML model. The model analyses temperature and operating trends and assists a controller in selecting an appropriate cooling action. A fan, pump or other thermal-management actuator can then be controlled automatically. The approach aims to maintain the battery in a suitable temperature range while avoiding unnecessary cooling. The concept combines mechanical thermal management, sensors, control and artificial intelligence to create a smarter battery thermalmanagement system.
