DATA MIGRATION APPROACHES FOR SAP S/4HANA IMPLEMENTATION

Data Migration is an integral part of implementing SAP S/4HANA, a contemporary ERP software application. Efficient governance of the data migration procedures is what allows preserving operations and limiting disruptions during the implementation of SAP S/4HANA. This research explores different data migration strategies to implement SAP S/4HANA, such as Big Bang, Phased, Greenfield and Brownfield methods. Each method has specific characteristics and requirements to be satisfied, depending on organization's readiness and goals. Additionally, this work provides analysis of major stages of SAP S/4HANA migration which include data cleansing, extraction, transformation, validation, and loading. Finally, the capabilities of SAP Migration Cockpit, SAP Data Services, and SAP Landscape Transformation (SLT) for helping in the process of extracting, transforming, validating and migrating data will be evaluated. Choosing the right data migration strategy is critical. Proper planning together with effective pre-and post-migration assistance is what ensures successful implementation of SAP S/4HANA. The process of adopting SAP S/4 HANA, considered as a modern ERP system, has a complex procedure which involves transferring of information from the older generation SAP systems and from a data-oriented business environment. Preserving the quality of data during this process is vital. SAP S/4HANA, which can be seen as a new-generation ERP system, involves a rather complicated procedure where there will be data transfer from older systems used by SAP and other modern business data models. Data quality is of primary importance at this stage; therefore, data quality assurance should be prioritized.
