Abstract

Anxiety disorders are considered to be one of the major mental health issues among the population, putting a huge burden on individual’s lives in terms of overall functioning and well-being. One of the most common psychotherapeutic approaches that have gained extensive recognition for the treatment of anxiety disorders is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The current study investigates the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral interventions in the management of anxiety disorders by using a conceptual and analytical framework. The main techniques of CBT are identified in the paper such as cognitive restructuring, exposure therapy, and behavioral activation, which are further examined regarding their impact on the reduction of anxiety symptoms. Existing research findings reveal that CBT leads to long-lasting improvements in symptoms and at the same time, empowers individuals with practical coping strategies, therefore, it is endorsed for continued use as a first-line treatment strategy.
