Abstract

In the construction industry, quality control and monitoring play a vital role in ensuring that projects meet specified standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations. This project explores the methods, tools, and practices used to maintain and improve quality in construction management. It focuses on identifying key factors affecting construction quality, such as material compliance, workmanship, project planning, and on-site supervision. The study also examines modern quality management systems, including the use of digital tools like Building Information Modelling (BIM), real-time monitoring technologies, and ISO 9001 standards. Through case studies and field surveys, the research highlights common quality issues and evaluates the effectiveness of various control techniques. The findings emphasize the importance of proactive quality planning, regular inspections, documentation, and continuous improvement to minimize rework, reduce costs, and enhance overall project performance. This project ultimately aims to provide practical recommendations for improving quality assurance and control mechanisms within the construction sector. Hyderabad, one of India’s fastest-growing metropolitan cities, is witnessing a significant construction boom driven by rising residential, commercial, and infrastructure development. This surge in activity has made quality control and monitoring a critical component of effective construction management. This project focuses on assessing the quality management practices adopted in Hyderabad's construction sector, with a view to identifying gaps, evaluating effectiveness, and recommending improvements. The study examines the full cycle of construction quality—from planning and design, through procurement of materials, to execution and postconstruction evaluation. Particular attention is given to compliance with national building codes, GHMC regulations, and green building standards, as well as the practical challenges faced in maintaining quality at different project scales.
