Abstract

This paper presents an innovative automotive safety and environmental monitoring system that integrates artificial intelligence-driven driver assistance with IoT-enabled smart seatbelt technology and comprehensive environmental protection capabilities. The system utilizes an ESP-32 microcontroller as the central processing hub, coordinating inputs from multiple sensors including DHT11 temperature and humidity sensor for cabin climate monitoring, ESP-CAM for real-time visual analysis and driver behaviour monitoring, CO2 sensor for detecting dangerous carbon dioxide levels and ensuring proper ventilation, GPS module for location tracking and route optimization, and rotatory encoder for precise monitoring of seatbelt engagement and adjustment. The AI algorithms analyse driver behaviour patterns, detect drowsiness through facial recognition, identify distraction events, and provide proactive alerts to prevent accidents while simultaneously monitoring environmental parameters that could affect driver performance or passenger health. The smart seatbelt system employs rotatory encoder technology to detect proper fastening, tension adjustment, and potential failure conditions, transmitting real-time status to the central system and triggering warnings when safety protocols are violated. Environmental protection features continuously monitor cabin air quality through CO2 sensing, temperature and humidity tracking, and automatic ventilation control to maintain optimal conditions for occupant health and comfort. Output devices including LCD display for visual feedback, buzzer for immediate auditory alerts, GSM module for emergency communication and remote monitoring, and IoT connectivity for cloud-based data logging and fleet management create a comprehensive safety ecosystem that protects both vehicle occupants and the environment while enabling advanced analytics and predictive maintenance capabilities.
