Abstract

Medicinal plants have long been integral to traditional healthcare systems worldwide, providing a rich source of bioactive compounds with significant therapeutic potential. This study focuses on the pharmacological properties of key plant-derived phytochemicals—such as alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, and polyphenols—and examines their biochemical mechanisms, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiviral, and anticancer activities. It also underscores the vital role of these compounds in modern drug discovery and their effectiveness in treating chronic diseases, metabolic disorders, and infectious conditions.
