Abstract

The Excel Formulas and Cleanup Copilot is an Artificial Intelligence-based productivity system designed to help users create spreadsheet formulas, clean datasets, identify errors, and improve the overall quality of Excel worksheets. Spreadsheet applications are widely used in education, business, finance, administration, and data analysis. However, users often face difficulties when working with complex formulas, inconsistent data, duplicate records, missing values, and formatting problems. The proposed system allows users to upload an Excel file or enter a description of the task they want to perform. The AI analyzes the spreadsheet structure, identifies columns, data types, patterns, and existing formulas, and understands the user's natural-language request. Based on this analysis, the system can generate appropriate Excel formulas such as SUM, AVERAGE, IF, COUNTIF, XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, and other commonly used functions. A major feature of the system is automated spreadsheet cleanup. The Copilot can detect duplicate records, empty cells, inconsistent capitalization, unwanted spaces, incorrect data formats, invalid values, and inconsistent date or number representations.
