Abstract

Investment management plays a pivotal role in financial planning, wealth creation, and economic development. In a rapidly evolving financial environment characterized by market volatility, technological advancements, and changing investor preferences, effective investment management strategies are essential for both individuals and institutions. This study focuses on analysing the investment management practices of State Bank of India (SBI), India’s largest public sector bank, with special emphasis on investment products, customer behaviour, and portfolio diversification strategies. The research aims to evaluate how SBI facilitates investment decisions through its financial products such as mutual funds, fixed deposits, insurance-linked investments, and digital investment platforms. The study also examines investor awareness, risk perception, and return expectations in the current economic scenario (2023–2025). Primary data was collected through structured questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents, including SBI customers and investors. Secondary data was sourced from financial reports, journals, and investment-related publications. The analysis uses statistical tools such as percentage analysis, bar charts, and pie diagrams to interpret investor preferences and behaviour. Investment decisions are influenced by multiple factors such as risk tolerance, liquidity, return expectations, and financial literacy. As highlighted in prior studies, investors often face confusion due to the availability of diverse investment options and must evaluate parameters like safety, returns, and tax efficiency before investing. The findings reveal that SBI plays a significant role in guiding investors through diversified investment options, but challenges such as limited financial awareness and risk aversion still persist. The study concludes with recommendations to enhance investor education, improve digital investment platforms, and strengthen customer advisory services.
