Abstract

Information Technology (IT) has transformed the banking sector by enhancing efficiency, security, and customer service, while enabling innovative financial products and services. The adoption of IT in banking includes core banking systems, online and mobile banking, automated teller machines (ATMs), electronic payment gateways, and data analytics, which collectively streamline operations and improve decision-making. IT also plays a pivotal role in risk management, fraud detection, and regulatory compliance, ensuring that banks maintain operational integrity in a rapidly evolving financial environment. This study examines the role of IT in modern banking, highlighting its impact on operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and competitive advantage. It explores how digital technologies facilitate real-time transactions, financial inclusion, and personalized banking services. Additionally, the research addresses challenges such as cybersecurity threats, system integration, and the need for continuous technological upgrades. By analyzing case studies and industry trends, the study underscores the strategic importance of IT as an enabler of innovation, cost reduction, and value creation in the banking sector. Overall, effective implementation of IT in banking not only enhances service quality and operational efficiency but also strengthens the sector's resilience, supporting sustainable growth and customer trust in the digital era.
