Abstract

To study the Phyto-remediation of plants which are used in Musi sewage. The Phytoremedial plants used to clean up contaminated soil and water. Phyto-remediation basically refers to the use of plants to reduce the concentrations or toxic effects of contaminated Soil. The plants identified with Phyto-remediation are like Indian mustard (Brassica juncea) Amaranths retroflex (rapeseed) etc. These plants refer to the natural ability of bioaccumulation, degradation and harmless contaminants in water and soil. One more important feature is the toxic heavy metals and organic pollutants are the targets for the Phyto-remediation. The Musi River in Hyderabad as a long history of sewage and pollution, it results in the rapid urbanization and lack of planning. The Musi River is one of the most polluted rivers in the world, receiving 654 million liters of waste water every day. The river’s pollution is mainly due to anthropogenic municipal waste discharge. So, it becomes a dumping ground for untreated waste. The chemical waste which enters the river from industries seeps into the ground and contaminates soil and ground water. The same water is consumed by people and adversely effects many health problems. The Main study of the project reflects the impact of the Phyto-remedial plants in the treatment of sewage.
