Abstract

The rapid growth of urban populations and the increasing number of vehicles have significantly worsened the challenge of finding available parking spaces, particularly during peak traffic hours. Conventional parking management systems are often inefficient, manual, and time-consuming, which contributes to traffic congestion, fuel wastage, and environmental pollution. To overcome these issues, this project proposes an Online Vehicle Parking Reservation System that enables users to search, reserve, and manage parking spaces in real time through a web or mobile-based platform. The system allows vehicle owners to check parking availability in advance, book slots conveniently, and complete online payments, thereby reducing the hassle of searching for parking spaces on arrival. From the administrator’s perspective, the system supports efficient allocation of parking slots, real-time monitoring of occupancy, and analysis of space utilization. This ensures optimal use of available infrastructure and improves overall operational efficiency. By integrating features such as location-based services and automated notifications, the proposed system enhances user convenience and minimizes waiting time. It promotes smarter urban mobility by reducing congestion and improving traffic flow. Furthermore, the system is designed to be scalable and can be extended with IoT-enabled sensors and QR code-based check-in mechanisms to achieve higher levels of automation, accuracy, and real-time responsiveness.
