Abstract

Energy crisis, the increasing demand of electrical energy, a basic human requirement all over the world, is one of the most important environmental challenges faced by the world today. Consumer behaviour and the use of energy efficient technologies are two of the most crucial factors that influence household consumption. These concerns directly raise the electricity bills. The electrical use of households accounts for a considerable percentage of the total energy consumption. In the effort to reduce energy consumption, managing electrical loads is of the utmost importance. In the daily life, the electric loads are the equipment which need electric energy to work. Many developing and developed countries are experiencing a rise in their demand for electricity usage. In the recent days, with the rise in robbery incidents, incursion and other security related issues, security of home environment has been much talked about in the culture. But, with traditional security systems, the security problems are very much reliant on the security mechanisms and cannot identify the security issues timely. Further, it's hard for residents to check on their property when they are not home. The IoT technology has revolutionized the security in the residential areas where the occupants are alerted of the security threat by having very sophisticated systems to monitor and inform them about the security threat.
