Prime Pulse is a fully functional, web-based news publishing portal developed using PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The system is designed to allow a team of journalists, editors, and administrators to collaborate in publishing news articles efficiently, while giving general users a clean and informative reading experience. The project follows an Incremental/Agile development model, where features were planned, designed, coded, and tested in successive cycles. This approach ensured that core features like authentication and article creation were stabilised before building advanced modules like analytics, newsletters, and role-based permissions on top of them. Key features of the system include article creation with image uploads and video embedding, a content approval and rejection workflow, breaking news and top story tagging, scheduled publishing, a full analytics dashboard, newsletter broadcasting to subscribers, comment moderation, category and tag management, and a media library. The public-facing side of the portal offers a responsive homepage with hero news, trending stories, category-wise sections, a photo of the day feature, and an advanced search facility. Security measures include CSRF protection, input sanitisation, rate limiting, and activity logging. Prime Pulse demonstrates how a modern content management system for news media can be built cost-effectively using open-source technologies, making it practically deployable for real-world newsroom use.
