India’s agricultural economy sustains millions of rural households; however, smallscale farmers continue to face structural challenges such as climate variability, low productivity, limited market access, and inadequate technological support. A persistent digital divide between urban and rural regions further restricts equitable access to modern digital solutions and intelligent farming technologies. Artificial Intelligence (AI) presents a transformative opportunity to bridge this divide by enabling data-driven decision-making, precision agriculture, predictive analytics, and intelligent advisory systems. This research paper critically examines the role of AI in promoting sustainable agriculture among rural small-scale farmers in India. It analyzes practical implementations, Indian initiatives, global examples, implementation barriers, and expected socio-economic outcomes. The study concludes that AI, when supported by affordability, digital literacy, infrastructure development, and institutional collaboration, can significantly enhance agricultural sustainability, productivity, and rural empowerment. Bridging the digital divide in agriculture is not merely a technological intervention but a socio-economic necessity for inclusive national development
