Abstract

A natural disaster known as an earthquake has been responsible for the loss of millions of lives over the
course of human history. One of the most damaging occurrences that has ever been recorded in India, both in
terms of the number of deaths and the amount of damage to infrastructure, was the earthquake. As a result of the
current state of the environment and the behavior of tectonic plates, it is of the highest importance for civil
engineers to take into consideration the consequences of earthquakes for the purpose of constructing buildings. In
addition, the majority of India is located in an earthquake-prone zone; hence, it is essential to take seismic load
into consideration while building a structure in order to reduce the impact of an earthquake. Both the equivalent
lateral force technique and the response spectrum approach are used in this project work to conduct an analysis of
a high-rise structure that is fourteen stories tall and located in seismic zone V. Following completion of the study,
a number of response characteristics, including story shear, story displacement, story drift, and others, are being
investigated, and the outcomes are being compared. In addition, the study of the building that is now under
construction is carried out, and the findings of foundation shear tested at various story levels throughout the
construction period are compared.
