AI BASED MEDICAL CHATBOT FOR PATIENT ASSISTANCE

Abstract

The healthcare industry generates vast amounts of patient data daily, making manual patient support and query handling inefficient and time-consuming. This industry-oriented miniproject proposes an Artificial Intelligence (AI) based Medical Chatbot designed to assist patients by providing instant responses to medical queries, symptom analysis, and basic healthcare guidance. By leveraging Machine Learning (ML) algorithms and Natural Language Processing (NLP), the system can understand user inputs, interpret symptoms, and deliver accurate responses in real time. The proposed methodology includes data collection from medical datasets, preprocessing of textual inputs, and training NLP models for intent recognition and response generation. The chatbot utilizes deep learning models such as Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) and Transformer-based architectures to improve conversational accuracy. Results indicate that the AI-driven chatbot significantly reduces response time and enhances patient engagement compared to traditional healthcare support systems. Traditional healthcare systems often face delays due to limited availability of medical staff and manual consultation processes. This project presents an AI-Based Medical Chatbot designed to provide 24/7 assistance, reducing workload on healthcare professionals. By analyzing patient queries, medical history, and symptom descriptions, the chatbot builds dynamic interaction models. Utilizing AI capabilities, the chatbot can suggest possible conditions, provide preventive measures, and recommend when to consult a doctor. Furthermore, integration with predictive analytics enables early identification of potential health risks. Ultimately, this system improves accessibility to healthcare, enhances patient satisfaction, and optimizes hospital resources, representing a shift from reactive healthcare services to proactive digital health assistance.
