Abstract

The rapid advancement of information technology has significantly transformed the education
sector, leading to the development of digital solutions for managing academic institutions.
Traditional methods of managing college operations, such as maintaining records manually, are
inefficient, time-consuming, and prone to errors. This research presents the design and
development of a web-based College Management System (CMS) using the Django framework to
automate and streamline institutional processes.
The proposed system integrates multiple modules, including student management, faculty
management, branch management, library management, attendance tracking, marks management,
and notice dissemination. By leveraging Django’s Model-View-Template (MVT) architecture,
the system ensures a clean separation of concerns, enhancing scalability and maintainability. The
system provides role-based access control, ensuring secure authentication and authorization for
administrators, faculty, and staff.
The implementation utilizes Django’s built-in authentication system to manage user sessions and
restrict access to authorized users. The dashboard provides a comprehensive overview of
institutional data, including total students, faculty members, branches, and library resources.
CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations are implemented using Django’s generic classbased
views, simplifying development and reducing code redundancy.
