Abstract

Water management is a critical global challenge due to increasing population, climate change, and inefficient resource usage. Traditional water management systems suffer from lack of transparency, data manipulation, poor allocation, and inadequate monitoring. This paper proposes a Blockchain-Based Water Management System that integrates blockchain technology with Internet of Things (IoT) devices to create a decentralized, transparent, and tamper-proof water resource management platform. Smart meters and IoT sensors feed real-time consumption data to a blockchain ledger, while Solidity smart contracts automate billing, enforce usage policies, and generate alerts. The system prevents unauthorized extraction, detects leakages, and ensures fair billing. Experimental results demonstrate 100% tamper-detection accuracy, transparent audit trails, and significant reduction in billing disputes compared to conventional centralized systems.
