High purity oxides have been used in a typical high temperature solid state reaction process to create the ceramic composition CaTiO3. The structure and qualities of calcium titanate material are greatly influenced by the process used, which is dependent on the required attributes for the application. Xray diffraction (XRD) has been used to characterise the material. The synthesised CaTiO3 was discovered to have an orthorhombic perovskite structure based on crystallographic structural investigation. This material crystallised in a single phase with a perovskite structure and a small impurity phase, as demonstrated by the X-ray diffraction pattern. The Debye Scherrer equation was used to determine the crystallite size, which is comparable with the particle size of CaCO3 and TiO2 ground together. The Goldschmidt tolerance factor was used to determine the structure
